Best Laid Plans

Soooo....this has happened before....lots of fun plans made and then life happens.

Today we were supposed to be flying to meet my college roommates and their hubbies in Punta Cana.  However, things came up and we had to back out :( blah.

Now I'm home with the kiddos, Tim is in China, and my ladies are looking hot on a resort...oh, and I'm sick :-/

love this picture

But I'm over that pity party because we've got plans to see each other in April!!!!

Playing

Love that even though Olivia is in school five days a week, they still play whenever they can :)

Gymnastics

Olivia is still enjoying gymnastics, she's now in gold.  Its amazing how much her skills have improved since she started. She loves trampoline and bars and doesn't really like beam.

And a little video

Flu, Strep, and Other

This past fall we made a huge deal about the flu shot.  We talked about the importance of it and why we choose to get it.

Unfortunately for one of us, it didn't protect us completely.
Mason woke up Saturday morning with a fever and cough (and his breath smelled funky).  He breathing declined rapidly to the point where we ended up using Olivia's rescue inhaler.  We've never had to use an inhaler to rescue, and it was scary.  The good news is one minute after using it, he was better.

Decided to take him into the dr.  He had type-A flu, strep, and blood & protein in his urine.  His eyelids were very swollen all day Saturday...we still don't know why....but the dr had us follow-up with the blood & protein one week later (all was clear).

We started tamiflu and antibiotics immediately.  He was pretty miserable all day.  He had to continue to use the inhaler every four-ish hours.  In fact, he was more dependent on the inhaler than advil...when he needed the inhaler he was not doing well, after the two puffs...he was a lot better.

Since I am writing this almost a month after it happened, I can report that two days later, on Monday morning he woke up fever free and feeling better...a little tired.  Thank heavens for good meds!!!  And no one else caught any of it!!

After 11.5 years of marriage the items you've received as wedding gifts are not exactly in the same condition as we received them.  For the past two years we've talked about getting new stuff.

TODAY WAS THE DAY!!!!
 Jackpot!

Math Chart

She's growing so much right now.  I pulled out my old 100's chart and asked herput the numbers back in order.  I expected her to start with the number 1 and move to the right in numerical order.

Nope!  Instead she picked random numbers and put them where they belong (...mostly...she was able to self-correct all her errors herself).

LOVE THIS.

The 1st National Championship

We watched the Bucks beat the Ducks from the comfort of our home, while my parents WERE AT THE GAME in Dallas.   My mom is the biggest ohio state fan I know, I was sooo happy they were able to attend.
Great season OSU!
You had a nearly blemish free season... ;)

Heart Monkey

babysitter extraordinaire was home from college....so cute crafts were done again.  Came upstairs to find them hanging appropriately.

1.10.2015

The Murphs

Went to see our ex-neighborhood friends...we sure do miss having them in the same area, but it hasn't slowed down our visits too much.

A Girls/Boys/Kids Nite

The Mommies went out.

The Daddies stayed home with the 10 kiddos.

The Warming Pad

During the winter months we keep our house pretty cool...usually around 66...can't stand the air to be stuffy.  It can feel pretty chilly inside...so we have a "warming pad" (aka heating pad).  Olivia, Mason and I fight over who gets to sit on it :)

Sleepy

Two cuties climbed into bed with us last night:

Christmas Boxes

With the holiday, the number of boxes in our house is multiplying.  The kiddos have spent countless hours in the garage playing with, decorating, pretending, and destroying those boxes.

Happy New Year

Okie dokie.  Doing the resolution thing again...although I've not been very successful with them in the past :-/

BUT this is the year!!  I will accomplish :)

lol

here were my resolutions from last year:

And now for my 2014 Resolutions....
*attend (my first) theater production
*learn how to cook five new dinners that are family favorites and can be added to our rotation of yummy meals (meatloaf, chicken divan, new salmon recipe, red beans and rice, lasagna)
*Be Mindful of "First World Problems" and yet also remember it's okay to feel!
*RUN at least 6 times a month (last year I did three) (continue boot camp 2x/week)
*Continue to READ -- got a kindle for Christmas :) (read: me before you, tell the wolves i'm home, wild, the fault in our stars, the husbands secret, where'd you go bernadette)
*travel (Veeeegas Baby!!!, all-inclusive trip with Murphy's, Columbus, OH for VT-OSU game, somewhere with snow with kiddos, and hopefully other fuuuuun places)
*Still would like to sort through my pictures (debating about creating "year books" that have one pic per day)
*Last year I wrote that I wanted to complete one race....technically the Tough Mudder is not a race...  This year I want to do ONE running race.
*Continue with decorating my house... (dining room, foyer, master bedroom, mason's room, kids bath, guest room)
*add labels to my blog posts

And now for my 2015 Resolutions...
*stop saying "I'm Sorry" or "sorry".  It's my go to word to empathize with someone.  If I'm truly repentant about something, I will say "I apologize..."  (this is my number one priority)
*labels on blog post (repeat from 2014)
*get all our film pictures digitized
*also related to this: go through photos on computer and start deleting some!
*buy new: silverware, pots/pans, dishes, cups, wine glasses, goblets, vacuum, knives, trash can
*find some way to get both kiddos to STOP sucking their thumbs :-/
*read more, sleep more! I spend my evenings staying up too late watching tv or playing games on phone, must curb that and pick up a book! My goal: 12 books (read: the forgotten garden, same kind of different as me, unbroken, divergent)
*trips: college roomie reunion, take kids to see snow, group 40th birthday celebration in tropical location, disney?, AUSTIN, beach trip
*Continue decorating house (master bedroom, master bath, my closet, kids bath, olivia room, playroom)
*Attend a theater production (repeat from 2014)
*How about five new meals again.

haha...now I'm just adding things...gonna stop with this :)
