Spotlight Award

Olivia was selected in her class to receive an award for Responsibility.  There was a sweet little ceremony, in which a student from every class was selected.  

Olivia was EXTREMELY nervous/anxious before and during the program.  She didn't talk or smile.  She looked like this...THE WHOLE TIME.

I actually felt bad and kept trying to reassure her.  

However, she perked right up once they finally called all the kindergartners and her soccer teammate/friend was right next to her :) 

After School: The Park

First Conference

We had our first conference for this young lady last Thursday. 

To say it went well, would be an understatement.  I don't know if it was our expectations or first child or the fact that for the first time in my life I was on the other side of the table...but it was cool. 

Olivia is doing very well academically, socially, and behaviorally in school.  We are so incredibly proud of her.

Texas Friends

We have lived in Texas for 6+ years with these dear friends.  And not once have we ever gone out for dinner just adults.

UNTIL TONIGHT!!

We will NOT wait another six years to do this....






On a side note:  we were supposed to take the bus to transport everyone tonight...but it broke down in the middle of the road.  Thankfully, Tim has such awesome friends they helped him get it safely back home.

Our first Fall Festival at the school.  There are a THOUSAND kids and an occasional parent.  We buy 150 tickets.  Kids eat LOTS of sugar and play a few games to win "prizes" that will be lost or broken in five minutes.

After School: Noises

She gets home from school and wants time alone.  She usually goes upstairs and plays by herself.  She tells me, "Mommy, I've spent all day with people, I just want to be by myself."  (wow...talk about my five year old knowing herself!)  So we leave her alone.

But she's not quiet.  I'm thinking that she does a good job of not always talking or making noises at school...so when she comes home, it just pours out of her mouth.  It doesn't make sense, it's loud, and usually it's sung.

Storybook Parade

Last Friday Olivia's school had a storybook parade for the kinders and 1st grade students.  They walk all around the school and show off their character.  Olivia wanted to wear her Halloween costume and so we chose the book Stellaluna.

We woke up bright and early to go out on the boat with my parents...

which required large coffees!

What a fantastic weekend!!!

A BUSY Weekend

I think I need to stop saying, "It was a busy weekend."  This is the new normal.

**8pm last night Tim's parents arrived.  They wanted to watch kiddos play in a soccer game.

**5am this morning, I woke up to head to Erin's to help with their yard sale (they graciously offered to sell half of our house!)

This was before our flu shot.  Tim and I really talked this one up.  We were all getting a flu shot together.  Daddy was going first, then Mason, Mommy and lastly Olivia.  No tears meant ice cream for everyone...

Well, we didn't get ice cream... I have to say, they both did well, Olivia tried really hard.  I though the nurse was exceptionally slow...but who am I to judge how fast or slow she is pushes the syringe in my kiddos legs.    

Extra Friends

Today we had Alder and Avery all day (their parents were on a vacay).  We went to a park with the Outtens and then did lots of bike riding and lego playing.  Gotta love fun playmates.

Block Party

This was our third block party in our lovely neighborhood, complete with police offices, fire fighters, and a DJ!!  

The kids HAD A BLAST.  They ran around, ate tons of junk, played games, danced, rode bikes, decorated pumpkins...they could not be stopped.  Olivia decorated 17 pumpkins...and Mason made 17 new friends.  A lovely evening.

Watching TV with a Flamingo

We haven't had to visit the drs in a looooong time.  I've been holding off taking Olivia in, thinking we could wait until her well-check in December.  She's still struggles with some breathing issues...has her "cough" and lots of throat clearing (even though we've been doing Qvar and Allegra twice a day since August).  It's not awful, but it's definitely bothersome and I think interferes with her sleep.  Last night, Olivia woke up screaming her ear hurt.  Gave her some advil and in the morning she said it only hurt when she burped.  Decided to just take her in and get checked out.

oooppsss...really bad right ear infection and wheezing.  Lots of meds later, really hoping to stay on top of these breathing issues.  (Note to self: this happens every Fall)
