Happy Thanksgiving (again!)

AND today, we traveled to San Antonio to have turkey with Tim's family :)  Yes...we are incredibly grateful for having family near us!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Wow, it's still such a novelty to have family nearby for the holidays.  For the longest time, we've had to travel to see family...and now, we just have to drive 30 minutes to see my parents and 3.5 hours to see Tim's.  We are soooo THANKFUL to have family near us.

Today we went to my parents house for a delicious turkey meal.

Tuesday at Wendy's

Since the kids are now in school full days, we don't get to visit Wendy's for storytime.  However, this week the kids don't have school and were thrilled about the opportunity to go again :)

it's rainy and cold....but that doesn't really matter if the hot tub is 95 degrees ;)

Happy Birthday Alana!

Originally we were supposed to be camping, so we weren't going to make it to Alana's birthday celebration; however, when the plans changed we were excited about our night out!

There was a party bus, wine, steak, desserts, dancing, lasers, fog machine, shots, tacos for the ride home....
Needless to say we had an INCREDIBLE time!!

It's Kevin's birthday and we were supposed to be camping, however the weather is rather frigid and rainy....so we had to reschedule.
Still had an awesome evening celebrating!!!
Happy Birthday Kevin!
I'm kind-of excited to see what Kevin's birthday is going to be like next year ;)

Sleepy Boy

Our Wednesday routine, just my man and I, includes running errands and sometimes he just can't make it the whole trip.  Today I didn't want to wake him, so I pulled the car in the garage and left him for his 90 min nap....
zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Veterans Day Program

Last week Taylor invited us to her Veterans Day program at her school.  We are very proud of her, she did such a great job.

Thank you for thinking of us Taylor!

Chucky Cheese

So I hit a parenting roadblock.  There was lots of time spent focusing on the negative and yelling and/or putting kids into timeout.  I wanted to give the kids something else that they could earn.  After putting on my teacher hat for a minute, I remembered how my students earned "pom poms" in the classroom for good behavior.  Once they filled up their cup, they got a reward...

For the past couple of weeks the kids have worked really hard to earn all their pom poms and this past week they did.  Their reward???  Their first visit to Chunky Cheese :)

Cookies with the Clauses

Thank you so much to Alana and kids for inviting us to join them for "Cookies with the Clauses".  It was such a cute event where our kids got to make lots of various crafts, take pictures with Santa, listen to a story read by Mrs. Claus, and eat cookies!!!
I mean, does it get any better than this?!?!

Camping Day 2

Our weather is absolutely perfect this weekend.  High of upper 60's and lows in the lower 50's.  It was great to cuddle in our sleeping bags.  The kids woke up nice and early (6am) and we got our day started with a hot breakfast and went on a hike.
Afterwards we attempted some fishing...unfortunately, we never caught anything all weekend, however the kids all patiently took turns holding the fishing poles and fished for HOURS even though they never caught anything.
The rest of the day was spent going on another hike to playground, did some more unsuccessful fishing and ate pizza pockets by the campfire.  Our kids were beyond tired and since it's dark by 5:30, they were sound asleep by 630pm and didn't wake up the following morning until 7!
Thank you Johnson's for an awesome weekend!!
(Tiff - I don't have a single picture of you this trip!?!??!  Guess we'll have to do it again)

A Camping Weekend!!!

We packed our bags and headed to Lake Livingston for a weekend of sleeping outdoors :)
Jerry did not want to be left at home and waited patiently for us to finish packing...in the car.
This is actually Olivia's SECOND camping adventure at Lake Livingston.

Here we are in March of 2009...Olivia was only 3 months old
Also look how little those Johnson girls are...they are now 7 & 9!

We set up the camp, did a little walking, then started a campfire.
And wait waited for our favorite camping partners to arrive...

Flower

The kids were playing in the garage/driveway.  I was folding the laundry.  I came out to find THIS on the board.

TaylorAubrey

This weekend we had the privilege of TaylorAubrey visiting :)  Their parents took a much deserved trip to Dallas to watch some team play...

Just to torture them a little, when their eldest said she needed something warm to wear...I provided her with the only thing that I thought would fit ;)

I mean, I may be a Texas fan...but I will always remember where I came from ;)

Needless to say, it was a lovely weekend.  Their girls were very helpful distracting my kids and played
cars/sisters/forts/barbies/trains/etc...

On Saturday I asked Taylor how far she's biked...   5 miles....

So "Who wants to go to four different parks?"  I knew a route that was 5.5miles long but passed by four parks...  I don't know why I decided to do this?!?!  I think I knew the worst thing that would happen is that I have to call my neighbor to come pick us up...  But I wasn't about to let that happen.  So TaylorAubrey rode 5.5 miles on their bike.  Olivia made it 3 miles.  Olivia and Mason probably jogged a mile...

4 parks, 5.5 miles, and THREE HOURS later we made it home!??!?
Mason is in the jogger

This is when Taylor wanted to push the jogger...Olivia and Mason were running, and I was riding Taylor's bike.
4 miles and 3 parks...they are still smiling :)

We finally made it home and by 9pm this is what everyone looked like.

The next morning we met the Hawk's at a park.  We flew kites, fed ducks, played soccer...where my competitive side took over when I TACKLED Taylor to get the ball!??!

To finish out the day we played outside, went out for dessert, and read books :)

Soccer

She's still playing :)  This weekend she had a make-up game on Friday at 5:15pm and a Saturday morning game at 8am.  This morning she had a lot of touches on the ball and scored a GOAL! Love watching her gain confidence and skillz.
